Eight School Boxers leaves for UAE to participate at the Asian Junior Boxing Championships

The Boxing Association of Sri Lanka sent a team comprising of 8 school boxers to the Asian Junior Boxing Championships scheduled to be held from 8 th to 18 th October 2019 in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates. Boys and Girl Boxers who were born in 2003 and in 2004 are eligible to attend in this ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships in UAE. The Tournament is going to be held in 13 different weight categories for boys and girls separately. Around 240 Junior boys & Girls from 20 countries are going to take part in this Asian Boys & Girls Junior Championships in UAE this year. Junior Boys and Girls boxers represent Sri Lanka for the Asian Junior Boys and Girls Boxing
Tournament are as follows;

Boys:
GPU Mihiran – 50 Kg – Nalanda Vidyalaya, Colombo
YM Usaith – 48 Kg – Sumangala College, Kandy
M Suraj Thisantha – 46 Kg – Vidyarathana University College, Horana
HMAS Karunanayake – 52 Kg – Vidyarathana University College, Horana
Girls:
JK Vishmi Nethara – 52 Kg – Narandeniya National School, Kaburupitiya
BHK Sewwandhi – 48 Kg – Don Pedirick College, Horana
P Hashini Anupama – 46 Kg – Narandeniya National School, Kaburupitiya
KDGCK Kulathunga – 50 Kg – Dheerananda College, Pilimatalawa
As per the new Initiative of Mr Dian Gomes, the President of Boxing Association of Sri Lanka, the school-level boxers will be given more opportunity to represent the country to gain the experience and
exposure at the International Boxing Tournaments.
