Six School Boxers left for Kuwait to participate at the Asian School Boy Boxing tournament

The Boxing Association of Sri Lanka sent a team compromising 6 school boxers to Asian School Boy Boxing Tournament scheduled to be held from 3rd to 9th August 2019 in Kuwait City, Kuwait. Asian Boxing Confederation arrived at a new milestone and launched this new competition to build up a bright future for Asian boxers from the very beginning. Boxers who were born in 2005 and in 2006 are eligible to attend in this ASBC Asian Confederation Schoolboys Boxing Championships in Kuwait City. 

 

The ASBC Asian Confederation Schoolboys Boxing Championship is scheduled to be held in 14 different categories from the 35kg weight class where the minimum will be 33kg. The official weight classes are from 35kg to 70+ kg. Around 160 school boys from 22 countries are going to take part in this inaugural edition of the Asian School Boys Tournament.

 

School Boxing Association selected 6 boxers to represent Sri Lanka for the Asian School Boy Tournament. They are as below:

Dulran Weerasinghe of – Mahanama College (33-35Kg)

S Dulaj Weerasinghe – Mahanama College (35-37Kg)

TGAS Premathilaka – Sri Dheerananda Maha Vidyalaya (37-40Kg)

AWTD Dissanayake – Peradeniya Central (40-43 Kg)

KGKM Karunasinghe – Dheerannada Maha vidyalaya (43 -46 Kg) 

MTS Reman – Veyangoda Central (46 -49Kg) 

 

This is the first time a team of school boy boxers taking part in the Asian Level School Boy Boxing Tournament. As per the new initiative of Mr. Dian Gomes the President of Boxing Association, maximum opportunities will be given for the school-level boxers to take part in International Boxing Tournaments to develop school boxers in the future.
