Aasil Marajudeen heads for the World Junior Boxing Championship in Armenia

Tuan Aasil Murajudeen from Zahira College, Colombo has been selected on the initiative of building future talent for Sri Lanka Boxing by Dian Gomes, President of Sri Lanka Boxing to represent Sri Lanka at the World Junior Boxing Championships in Yerelven, Armenia from 22nd November to 4th December.

Aasil is an accomplished pugilist and is Sri Lanka’s lone representative at this championship conducted by the International Boxing Association (IBA).

He has been unbeaten in the school boxing arena since winning his debut at the L.V. Jayaweera boxing championships for freshers in 2022.
He won his weight class at T.B. Jayah novices boxing meet and at the Stubbs Shield championship last year. He underlined his class by winning the Junior National Championship and the all Island Stubbs Shield Boxing Championship this year. He also underwent an international boxing Training camp in India (New- Delhi) ahead of his participation in the IBA Junior World Boxing Championship.

Aasil is accompanied by Abdulla Ibunu (Coach) and Chamantha Amila Thandakka, Principal of Dharmasoka College, Rathnapura (Manager).
Ibunu is a IBA 2-star coach and incidentally captained Sri Lanka at the World Junior Boxing Championship held in South Korea in 2005.
