Anuruddha Shanaka Bandara holds the distinguished position of Honorable Consul of Sri Lanka in Guinea, a testament to his diplomatic acumen and commitment to fostering international relations. Concurrently, as the founder and chairman of APS Group since its inception in 2016, he has been pivotal in steering the company’s growth trajectory and transforming its objectives into tangible accomplishments.
As a former athlete, he has exemplified leadership and teamwork both on and off the field, having captained numerous district and national teams. His tenure as head prefect of the sports school in 2002 and 2003 showcased his adept organizational skills and leadership within a sporting environment. Additionally, his role as head prefect of Polonnaruwa Central College in 2003 underscored his administrative abilities while fostering a culture of sportsmanship.
He led by example as he captained the District under 15, 17, and 19 teams from 1999 to 2001, demonstrating strategic thinking and leadership qualities. In 2012, he showcased his leadership and organizational capabilities in sports management by leading the DPMC cricket and volleyball club.
Anuruddha’s prowess in boxing is particularly noteworthy. He secured third place in the National Sports Festival (Boxing) in 2004, showcasing his athletic prowess and competitive spirit. Furthermore, his consistent excellence in boxing is exemplified by his consecutive first-place finishes in the National Sports Festival province (Boxing) in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2007, 2008, and 2009, highlighting his unwavering dedication and commitment to the sport.
Beyond personal achievements, Anuruddha has actively participated in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, particularly in supporting and overseeing boxing programs that have led to notable successes for Guinea’s National and Military Boxing teams. Under his guidance, these teams achieved significant championships, with the Guinea Military Team securing the Champion Award in 2019 and the Guinea National Boxing Team attaining the prestigious West Africa Champion Award in 2018. These accomplishments are a testament to Anuruddha’s leadership, strategic planning, and unwavering support, which have been instrumental in elevating the profile of boxing in Guinea and fostering athletic excellence.
