Referees and Judges Commission was formed under the auspices of the Affiliated Clubs to the commission. The aims and objectives of the commission are to promote, encourage and improve the standard and the number of boxing referees and judges in Sri Lanka, to allocate referees and other officials for the various bouts in each meet organized, conducted or approved by the commission, and to promote achieving of international recognition of boxing referees and judges to become members of the Asian body and AIBA.
To Create a thriving boxing R&J Community in Sri Lanka, our vision is to produce highly skilled and qualified officials while prioritizing the education and unity of the R&J family. We are committed to maintaining unwavering moral values and fostering an environment that promotes fair and transparent decisions, ultimately nurturing the development of boxers to their fullest potential.
To empower and educate the R&J (Referees and Judges) family in Sri Lanka, with a focus on producing qualified officials who uphold fairness and transparency, while maintaining unity and moral values, in order to develop boxers through fair and transparent decisions.
- The commission deals with all issues related to Referees and Judges. It is responsible for the development and implementation of the R&J management system that caters for the development, education, certification and evaluation of Referees and Judges.
- It also ensures that R&Js appointed to IBA Competitions are suitably qualified and secure sufficient members of appropriately accredited R&Js for international, regional and national competitions by creating teaching tools, tutorials and career paths that will sustain the quality of R&Js.
- Ensure that all competitions are held in accordance with the IBA technical and competition rules.
- Promote encourage and improve the standard and number of Boxing Referees and Judges in Sri Lanka.
- Allocate Referees & Judges and other officials for the various bouts in each meet organized conducted or approved by the association.
- Promote achieving international recognition of boxing referees and Judges to become members of the Asian Body and IBA.
- Ensure that all competitions conducted by R&J Association are held in accordance with the IBA Technical and competition rules.
- Protect and care for the safety and interest of Boxers.
- Train and improve the quality and transparency of all officials and competition officials.
- Prevent any method of practice or action that could compromise the regularity or the results of the competitions.
- Ensure the unity between the Boxing Association of Sri Lanka, Competition officials, affiliated clubs, Boxers, Coaches and other institutions.
- In addition to the aforementioned points, the R&J Commission is to have adhered to the following.
- comply with the constitution of BASL and IBA Rules and Regulations.
- Carry out fundraising activities in consultation with BASL.
- Carry out the instructions given by the Executive Committees of BASL to improve the R&J Commission on administration and other related matters.
- Conduct the Committee meetings once a month.
- Participate in the Executive Committee of BASL to discuss the policy matter as non-voting representatives.
- Take necessary action for the R&J and other officers’ matters.

- Conducting a workshop by Mr Hemantha Weerasinghe, Vice President of BASL. Newly compiled international boxing rules awareness program for all boxing coaches.
- Conducting a workshop by Mr Wasantha Kumara, Chairman of the R&J Commission. Ethical training between coaches and referees and awareness of the match scoring system.
- Conducting a workshop by Mr Susantha Weerasena (Sri Lanka School Boxing Association Supervising Officer/Director of Sports Education Nuwara Eliya Region) to provide basic boxing training to unregistered and newly joined Boxing Coaches in Sri Lanka and registration with the Coaches Committee as a Boxing Coach in Sri Lanka in the months of August or September.
- Providing knowledge through a special boxing training session and sports science courses through NINS for registered coaches of the Sri Lanka Boxing Coaches Committee. This course is organized by Coaches Commission member Mr Pradeep Jayasinghe for 2 days through NINS.
- Providing foreign training for 50 registered coaches of the Sri Lanka Boxing Coaches Committee, Patiala, India for this, 50 coaches will be selected through BASL, School Boxing Association and BASL’s Coaches Commission. Will be conducted from November 13th to 22nd, 2023.
- Training sessions with Army/Navy/Air Force/Police teams. Conducting training camps for 2022 and 2023 Sri Lanka Junior School squad athletes.
- Educating coaches about Sports Management All Boxing Coaches through NINS.
- Increase in Women boxing coaches. This course is organized by Coaches Commission member Mrs Nishadi Maduwanthi.
- Creating a website that contains information about all the coaches. This is an ongoing event.
- Educating Boxing Coaches on behaviour around the boxing ring during boxing matches, Awareness sessions (Online/WhatsApp/E-mail). To participate in registration with the Sri Lanka Boxing Coaches Committee is required. Informing the players of their school not to come near the boxing ring during the matches. The head coach and the other two coaches who enter the boxing ring should wear a tracksuit or proper clothing.
The Diversity Commission plays a significant role in uplifting and sustaining the standards of women’s boxing in Sri Lanka. Female coaches and Referees/Judges are also managed and monitored by the commission. The aims and objectives of the Diversity Commission shall be to advise the Executive Committee on all matters related to Women’s boxing and to promote, foster and encourage women in boxing at elite development and recreational levels.

The Champions and Veterans Commission encourages the development of youth boxing in Sri Lanka,
The Champions and Veterans Commission encourages the development of youth boxing in Sri Lanka, providing them with timely advice and direction to partake in the tournaments locally and internationally.

The selection committee is solely responsible for the selection of boxers for international meets. The committee selects boxers in adherence to rules and regulations, tracking and recording their progress within the annual calendar, and ensuring the best fighters represent Sri Lanka internationally.
