Dian Gomes who currently serves as the Honorary Consul of Georgia in Sri Lanka, is also the former Chairman of Hela Clothing and former Group Director of the USD 3 billion conglomerate, MAS Holdings. He commended his career at KPMG in 1977 and was the General Manager of the May Corporation (USA) in Sri Lanka before embarking on his over 25 – year career in the apparel industry. A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK), the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (UK) and Certified Practicing Accountants (Australia), he received his Executive Education at Wharton, Ashridge and Harvard Business Schools.
Dian was President of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK), Sri Lanka Division in 2001/2002; and presently sits on the Boards of Nestle Lanka PLC. and many other private and government organizations. His versatile interests saw him take over Presidency of the Boxing Association of Sri Lanka from 2004-2009 and 2017 to date. Dian was a Vice President of the National Olympic Committee and President of the National Fencing Association. He is also a Board Director for both the International Boxing Association (IBA) and Asian Boxing Confederation (ASBC).
Dian was awarded Business Leader of the year 2003 at the CIMA-Janashakthi Pinnacle Awards and was ‘Highly Commended’ by Chartered Institute of Management Accountants -UK at the 2004 Business Leader Awards in London. His unparalleled leadership was recognized when he was named the Business Icon of the year 2012 at the CIMA Leadership awards.
Acknowledged as one of Sri Lanka’s ‘Male Icons’ by the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing in 2007, Dian Gomes was awarded the ‘Brand Leadership Award’ under the Individual Category, in Mumbai, by the World Brand Congress in 2009.
He served as a Director of the Public Service Commission the apex body of the Sri Lanka Civil Service from 2020 to 2022.
In 2019 he was awarded the “Sri Lanka Sikhamani” the 3rd highest civilian honour in recognition of his exceptional services to the country.
With an extensive background in boxing built over the years, Weerasinghe has held numerous administrative positions in Sri Lanka. He was the Assistant Secretary of the Boxing Association of Sri Lanka (2004-2006), Secretary (2007-2010) Vice President of the Boxing Referees and Judges Association of Sri Lanka (2012-2017), and Secretary of ASBC R&J Commission (2015-Up to Date)
Boxing for St Sylvester’s College since 1982 Hemantha Weerasinghe captained the college boxing team in 1984 and went on to win the Best Boxer award in the prestigious Stubbs Shield Boxing Championships. He was the former flyweight National Champion and represented Sri Lanka in Asian Boxing Championships in 1984 and the second South Asian Games in 2015 were held in
Thailand and Bangladesh respectively.
Weerasinghe was a National R&J from 2016. FAAB R&J since 2006, AIBA 1 Start
R&J since 2010 and qualified as the International Technical Official from year 2013 and has been a R&J Evaluator at many international boxing tournaments, while also taking up the roles of International Technical Delegate. Weerasinghe has been an Executive Committee member of the Boxing Association of Sri Lanka from the year 2004 to date. Hemantha Weerasinghe has been appointed to the ASBC R&J Commission for the consecutive 3rd time. Hemantha has qualified as the first deputy Technical Delegate in the Sri Lanka Boxing.
After completing his school education at Joseph Vaz College, Wennappuwa and Sivali Central College, Rathnapura Wasantha Kumara has gained an MBA and a degree in International Relations. He worked as an Administrative manager at MAS Holdings Pvt (Ltd) from 2009 to 2018. He is the Director of the Public Image Rotary Club of Kandy Metropolitan.
He has been employed as a National Boxing Coach from 2012 to 2014. Wasantha Kumara has been qualified as an AIBA 3 Star boxing coach in 2013. He has served as a boxing coach in many national and international boxing championships. He was a boxing coach at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games where a Sri Lankan boxer qualified for Olympic Games after a 50 year gap. Wasantha is currently working as the International Technical Officer and as the president of the R&J Commission of the Sri Lanka Boxing Association.
Currently, he is married and a loving father of three and owns and operates his own company Dinuda Resort Kalpitiya, a 17-room hotel a known place for Kite surfers around the world.
Ibunu Studied at Royal College from 1991 – 2006 commencing his boxing career at a young age. He had been the captain of the Royal College boxing team from 2003 to 2005 and was leading the Sri Lanka U-19 team for the 13th World Junior Boxing Championship in 2004 and got 5th place in the tournament.
Abdulla Ibunu was the Champion of the National School Games and for Stubbs Shield Boxing Meet for consecutive four years from 2001 to 2005 and a sports Champion at several tournaments. He was a silver medalist at National Sports Festival in 2006 and a Bronze Medal winner at Layton Cup Boxing Meet & SAG Trails Meet in 2006.
Has served as the coach of LES CEINTURES International Boxing Tournament (Montana Belt) 2022 Gold Belt winner P.A.R Prasanna and The Eindhoven Box Cup International Boxing Tournament 2022 competer M.V.I.R.S Bandara. Serving as the secretary of BASL from 2021, he has much experience and has gained many qualifications as a boxing coach. Ibunu is serving as a 2-Start coach at IBA since 2015. He is currently the Boxing Head coach of Royal College, Sri Lanka Under 19 Boxing Coach and Colombo District Boxing Head Coach.
Colonel Kasun Adikari is performing as the Secretary of the Sri Lanka Army Boxing Committee since 2019 and is actively involved in Sports administration pertaining to all four boxing clubs registered under Sri Lanka Army. He has been representing the Executive Committee of the Sri Lanka Boxing Association since 2019. He was the manager of the Sri Lankan team at The ASBC Asian Elite Men & Women Boxing Championships Dubai, UAE 2021. Further, he has been appointed as the Assistant Secretary of the Sri Lanka Boxing Association since 2021. He represented Sri Lanka in the capacity of team manager for the Asian Boxing Championship 2021 held in Dubai UAE
Peiris has held the office of President of the Amateur Boxing Association of Sri Lanka since 2010, and this marks the fourth time he is been reelected to the committee the of association. Peiris was appointed a National Referee Judge in 2003, going on to become a FAAB Referee Judge in 2006, and 1-Start Referee Judge in 2011. He currently serves as the Manager of Commercial Bank PLC, Katunayake FTZ Branch.
Boxing for Royal College since 1981, Peiris had sportsmanship embedded in him from an early age, representing his school in boxing and other sports. He captained the college boxing team in 1985 and was awarded school colours in 1884 & 1885. Peiris was also part of the Royal College soccer team from 1982-1984.
Peiris managed the boxing team to the South Asian Games in India 20 years ago with a team of 10 members and was able to collect a haul of nine medals which was the best performance at the time.
Dunisha is a well-rounded financial professional. Having 13 years plus experience in her field, she currently serves as the Management Accountant of Hiyata Services Pvt (Ltd). She has completed her bachelor of commerce external degree at Sri Jayawardhanapura University and CBA in ICASL. currently holding the position of Assistant Treasurer at the Sri Lanka Boxing Association.
